The summer heat in South Florida is no joke. It makes every one of us feel like a reptile, drying in the sun and searching for any bit of respite where we can find it. If you’re like us, you like to seek refuge from the high temperatures and pesky humidity by jumping into the water–ocean or otherwise. While hotel pools are usually reserved for travelers, there are plenty that offer day passes to access a cool soak. Here are just a few of our favorites:
We have to start this list with an absolute landmark when it comes to getting refreshed in Miami. The Venetian Pool has been a historical watering hole in Coral Gables for nearly 100 years and is still just as Mediterranean-inspired and breathtaking as always. The 820,000 gallon pool is fed with spring water from an underground aquifer and is $20 for adults/$15 for children 3-12 years old. If you’re a Coral Gables resident, take advantage of the discount: $6.25 for adults/$5.25 for kids.

This bayside hotel is easily one of Miami’s most brilliant gems, and the most magical thing about it is its ability to still feel low-key regardless of its international appeal. The Standard’s views of Biscayne Bay, it’s spacious pool deck, and hidden gardens are all great options for getting refreshed. Though the day passes are on the pricier side ($75 on weekdays, $150 on weekends), this is easily one of the nicest pools in South Florida and gets you access to other refreshing areas, too.
While you might know it as one of Miami’s most photogenic hotels, The Biltmore offers more than just rooms and eats for out of towners. In fact, this is one of the best kept secrets in town: become a member here. Not only do you get tons of discounts in and around the hotel and golf course for being a member, but you get access and towels at arguably the best pool in South Florida. But if you don’t want to commit, the only other way to gain access to the pool (without being sneaky) is by renting a cabana for the day. For $180 for 6 people, that $30 per person price is a serious steal.

We love enjoying pools in unconventional spaces, and even Brickell provides a perfect backdrop for tuning out the bustling city. The SLS feels equal parts intimate and homegrown, while still reserving that luxury modern flare that the brand is known for. What we love the most about it is the variety of day packages specifically geared toward South Florida locals, including discounts on perks like cabanas and poolside food and drinks. Cabanas can start at $50 and come with a F&B minimum.
If you do want to feel like a tourist in your own city for a day, South Beach does offer some great getaways along its busiest streets. The Kimpton Surfcomber is one of the more low-key options, with that retro feel that is every bit as refreshing as stepping your toes in the sand. The basic day pass is $40 for adults and includes use of the pool, poolside food and drink service and beach access, use of the fitness center, 15% discount on spa services and daily activities.
Dip your toes back in time at the Shelborne South Beach, a stunning Art Deco Miami gem constructed in 1940 infusing modern sophistication into a vintage-chic hotel. It’s one of those lengthy pools that seems to go on forever, with enough space to call your own. The day pass is $50 for adults and Day includes access to the outdoor heated pool, hot tub, perks on poolside food and beverage service from Oasis Cafe, beach access (beach chairs first-come, first-serve), complimentary wifi and valet parking for $15 with food and beverage purchase validation.
