If the landmark changes happening across our country due to the inauguration show us anything this week, it’s that these next few days will be nothing short of eventful. More locally to South Florida though, this gorgeous weather is enough for us to celebrate about. Which means, our own backyard is once again the perfect setting for fun things to do with friends and family in the great outdoors. Here are some of our Editor’s top picks:
Whenever we have the chance to support our local music scene, we snatch it up! The Arsht Center‘s ‘Live on the Plaza’ outdoor concert series is back this month with a special performance by Miami’s own Latin Funk/Soul outfit, Elastic Bond this Thursday, January 21st. Seating groups are limited to reserved tables set respectfully apart to adhere to social-distancing guidelines. MORE INFO
World Red Eye
This next one isn’t relegated to a specific event, but more so a reminder to make good use of South Florida’s access to natural wonders during this beautiful weather streak. Our Editor’s favorite things to do outside include grabbing her inflatable kayak and launching from Oleta River State Park for some series Pocahontas reenactments, bringing her golf clubs to The Biltmore and making use of their public driving range with her brothers and pops, or–whether by car or by bike–heading over to Key Biscayne and catching the sunset from Sebastian Strong Beach or Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park.
Greater Miami and the Beaches
The very nature of outdoor markets still work during a pandemic, and with this nice weather, wearing a mask is an added tool to keep cozy and safe. We’re excited to see the return of The Flamingo Flea up in Fort Lauderdale this Sunday, which takes over Tarpon River Brewing once again. Stroll through the lanes of local artisan and handmade goods vendors, snag some delicious food, or just try some of the best brews in town. MORE INFO
