South Florida offers its sparkly beaches, wonderful nightlife and eclectic food spots. But an often under-looked aspect of our region is the luscious gardens it houses. No surprise that our subtropical climate is a perfect place for carving out breath-taking green spaces around the area. So since we know you’re looking for ways to be outdoors in a safe manner, here are a few re-opened gardens where you can escape to feel free:

Many of us know this garden oasis as the original home of Parrot Jungle back in the 90s and throughout our childhoods. Now, the 20-acre park at Pinecrest Gardens shines just as brightly and is filled with tropical plants, picnic grounds, and wildlife.

Tucked away off of Main Highway in Coconut Grove is the 9-acre estate that once belonged to Dr. David Fairchild (of the above-mentioned tropical garden name). The smallest on the list, this is also one of South Florida’s best-kept secrets. Aside from the Asian-inspired historical home, you’ll find a recreation of the famous botanist’s laboratory, hundreds of plants, towering banyans and dozens of mangoes–perhaps his most well-known discovery and contribution to the Americas.
Location: 4013 Douglas Rd, Miami, FL 33133
Hours: Call to make an appointment: (305) 442-7169
