Over the course of one adrenalized night, Connie finds himself on a mad descent into violence and mayhem as he races against the clock to save his brother and himself, knowing their lives hang in the balance. Has he changed, or is he an impostor? A real-life story in French history, it had been turned into a book, play and opera before director Daniel Vigne enlisted the great Jean-Claude Carrière to write this adaptation. The film went on to spawn Somersby and a West End musical, and won Best Foreign Film from the National Board of Review and Depardieu Best Actor from the National Society of Film Critics.

Jackie Brown (35mm) – Jackie Brown is arguably the most underrated entry in QT’s filmography, likely because it eschews his traditional violent standoffs and flashy flourishes for a realistic take on the criminal underworld grounded by characters who live and breathe like we do. Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe at The Funky Biscuit – Singer and saxophonist Karl Denson fronts the Tiny Universe as if he’s preaching the gospel. His energy and spirit are contagious while his songwriting serves a larger message of fellowship—across generations, genders, religions and cultures. Not surprisingly, he’s none too pleased with the current state of political discourse. Thus the reason why KDTU’s new album, Gnomes & Badgers, out now on Seven Spheres Records, is Denson’s hard-grooving answer to these tragically divisive times.

When new student Tai (Brittany Murphy) arrives at Beverly Hills High, Cher takes it upon herself to befriend the newbie – and give her a total makeover. Clueless is not just another teen movie thanks to writer/director Amy Heckerling who, with this film, created an astute satire and time capsule of 90s teen life.
