A real-life story in French history, it had been turned into a book, play and opera before director Daniel Vigne enlisted the great Jean-Claude Carrière to write this adaptation. When new student Tai (Brittany Murphy) arrives at Beverly Hills High, Cher takes it upon herself to befriend the newbie – and give her a total makeover.
