Avenue 3 Miami, a community initiative to transform NE 3rd Avenue into a signature street for Downtown Miami, is executing a regular series of events through September 30th on the street called On Avenue 3. These events are intended to spread the word about their initiative, bring life to the street, and hear from the Downtown community about how we can together create a street for people! MOCA Moving Images: Divine Horsemen The Living Gods of Haiti – This documentary explores the rituals of three Vodou cults whose origins stem from Africa. The viewer is introduced to a pantheon of spirits who communicate to their worshipers. The screening will be followed by a discussion led by Haitian folklorists Lucrèce Louisdhon and Louines Louinis. HistoryMiami’s South Beach History & Art Deco Walking Tour – Take a walk with HistoryMiami Museum’s Resident Historian, Dr. Paul George, through one of Miami Beach’s most exciting and attractive neighborhoods, South Beach’s Art Deco District! You will hear the stories of how this area, once strictly farmland, was transformed by the land boom of the 1920’s and again by the hurricane of 1926.
