For most people, summer means BBQs, flip flops, and the subtle aroma of sunscreen lingering in the background. In Miami, this season means getting uncomfortable, mainly because of the humidity but also due in part to having more time to try all those things you haven’t gotten around to doing. The first half of July has a good amount of the first option, but fun happenings like documentary premieres, brewery takeovers, epic outdoor shows, and of course, fireworks. So make sure to lather that lotion on and get ready to make some memories:

Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am – Miami native Timothy Greenfield-Sanders is a renowned portrait photographer who’s extended his work into several documentary films, including the trilogy The Black List that interviewed prominent African-Americans across many fields. Now he turns his camera on Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison as she applies her enormous storytelling skills to recounting her own life.

Key Biscayne Kayaking Oceanside – Let our naturalists take you on a journey along the shores of a land that has witnessed the comings and goings of man for over 2000 years, from the Tequesta tribes to the pirates that shipwrecked off shore.
