Paulo Nazareth: Melee Opening Night! – Celebrate the opening of ICA Miami’s newest exhibitions by Brazilian performance artist and sculptor Paulo Nazareth and the late Miami-born painter Purvis Young. ICA Miami presents “Melee,” the first solo US museum exhibition for Paulo Nazareth. An artist who works across mediums, Nazareth uses performance and sculpture—monumental and ephemeral—to critique the colonial experience in Brazil and the Americas.

Multiple Realities – Solo Art Exhibition featuring: Paul Amundarain – The Directed Art Modern (DAM) is thrilled to present Multiple Realities by Paul Amundarain. The DAM Gallery in Miami’s Little River district will host an opening reception, Thursday, May 16th, 2019. Community Open House + Swap Meet – Please join us for a Community Open House; enjoy Open Studios, participate in a drop in on artist-led workshops with Bakehouse artists in the mediums of ceramics, drawing, printmaking and photography. Take part in developing a community garden and green space. And participate in the Community Swap Meet benefitting both artists and neighboring residents with an opportunity to reduce material expenses through trade. The Community Swap Meet is presented in conjunction with Zero Waste Miami, led by Artist Carrie Sieh and Haiiilabs. Third Saturdays at 777 Mall – This month’s Third Saturdays features The 55 Project’s Collecting Impressions, led by artist Liene Bosquê. Bluegrass night at the Grove Spot – “The band and I are looking forward to being back at The Grove Spot this week to play some of our favorite bluegrass, folk, and country music. Hurricane Day – Winds of over 180 mph, storm surge over 30 feet high, rainfall totals over 60 inches, hurricanes are among nature’s most powerful and destructive phenomena. Join us as we explore the science of hurricanes with a day devoted to learning about the ingredients needed for hurricanes to form and strengthen, the process of hurricane forecasting, the latest research being conducted regarding hurricanes (all with the aim to better understand, predict and communicate about them), and most importantly, how you and your family can be prepared if a hurricane were to impact South Florida this hurricane season.
